Lets play the Clave !

Music with Mrs D

What did we learn?
* We learnt that the sticks were called Clave.
* We can put them down, and not touch them when the teacher is talking to us.
* We can tap them fast, and tap them slow.
* We can make a music pattern.  When Mrs D clapped her hands then we copied on the sticks.

What was I proud of?
* It made me feel happy when I could tap the pattern.
* I was good at not touch the Clave when Mrs D was talking.

What was tricky?
* Some of the patterns were tricky to listen to, and then copy.
* It was hard not to touch the Clave sometimes.

Who can I ask for help?
* Mrs D, Mrs Wyatt or a friend that is next to me.

What would I like to do next?
* I want to play the violin.
* I want to play the guitar.

Working with Patterns

Patterns
During our whole class Maths lessons we have been working on ‘patterns’. I have been asking my students questions such as: What comes next?, What is missing? What are other ways we can create patterns? What makes something a pattern?
Recent research shows that students working with patterns, and learning pattern awareness teaches them about shapes, counting, sequencing, differences, similarities (regular and irregular mathematical features/concepts), and early algebratic thinking.
Furthermore, we will be making patterns that involve pictures, words, and of course NUMBERS!  To read more go to :https://nrich.maths.org/13362

Tee-jay, you have been showing a lot of resilience this term when learning the letters of the alphabet, and writing your name.  I am proud of your positive attitude towards your learning.  Keep trying hard, and soon you will know all your letters.  Ka pai to mahi.

We are learning to log-in to Matific.

We now have our passwords and usernames so we can log-in to Matific, our online Maths programme.  Tee-jay has been practising this during Maths time, and he has been working on the tasks that have been set for him.
